Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. — Psalm 143:8

Can I tell you something that changed the way I start my mornings?

Every single day no matter what yesterday looked like, no matter what I did or didn't do, no matter how badly I fell short or how heavy I went to bed feeling God wakes me up and hands me a brand new beginning.

Not a used one. Not a discounted one. A brand new one. Fresh. Untouched. Full of possibility.

That is not a small thing. That is actually everything.

The Invitation of Every Morning

Every morning is a fresh canvas. Every sunrise is a reminder that His faithfulness didn't clock out overnight and His mercy didn't run dry while you were sleeping. He is still here. He is still for you. And He is still working on everything you laid down before you closed your eyes.

We are invited to step into each day not shackled by the regrets of yesterday but inspired by the promise of today.

That invitation is personal. It is for the woman who woke up this morning still carrying something she wished she had handled differently. It is for the woman who went to bed in tears and woke up not knowing how to face what is still waiting for her. It is for the woman who has been starting over so many times she wonders if starting over is all she will ever do.

Sis starting over is not failure. Starting over with God is faith.

What Psalm 143 Is Really Saying

"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground."
— Psalm 143:8-10

David wrote this psalm from a desperate place. He was being pursued by enemies, overwhelmed by his circumstances, and feeling crushed in spirit. And yet the very first thing he prayed was this... let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love.

Before the answers. Before the rescue. Before the situation changed. He asked God to meet him in the morning with a reminder of His love.

That is the posture God is inviting us into every single day. Not to wake up and immediately reach for our phones. Not to wake up and immediately rehearse our problems. But to wake up and ask God to speak first. To let His unfailing love be the first thing that settles in our hearts before the noise of the day has a chance to crowd it out.

Before the Day Pulls at You

Psalm 143 reminds us to start the day seeking God's direction and resting in His unfailing love. Before the distractions start. Before the responsibilities pile on. Before the pressures of the day begin to pull at us from every direction.

There is a peace available in simply sitting with God first.

I know mornings can be chaotic especially for those of us who are single moms or carrying a lot. Getting up earlier than your responsibilities is not always realistic. But even five minutes. Even just opening your eyes and saying "Lord, lead me today" before your feet hit the floor that is enough to shift the entire atmosphere of your day.

You are not just starting a new day. You are stepping into a fresh opportunity to experience His unwavering love and purposeful guidance. Every morning God is essentially saying "I have not changed. My love for you has not changed. My plans for you have not changed. Now let Me lead you through this day."

His Mercies Are New Every Morning

Remember this truth and let it settle deep

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
— Lamentations 3:22-23

His mercies are new every morning. Not recycled. Not rationed. New. That means whatever you used up yesterday whatever grace you needed, whatever patience ran thin, whatever you wish you had done differently today's supply is completely fresh.

This sets the stage for transformation. A chance to leave the past behind and walk boldly into the future He is preparing for you. No more dragging the baggage of what was into the promise of what is coming. Every new dawn is a gift wrapped in grace waiting for you to unwrap it and step into your divine purpose.

You are not behind. You are not too late. You are not too far gone. You are simply on the morning of a new day with a God whose mercies never run out. 🤍

How to Start Your Morning With God

Here are a few simple ways to embrace the new mercy of each morning:

Before you check your phone — say one thing you are grateful for. Just one. It shifts your focus immediately.

Open God's Word first — even one verse. Let His truth be the first thing your mind feeds on before the world gets a turn.

Pray honestly — like David did. Not a polished performance. Just you and God being real with each other about what the day is holding.

Declare who He is — speak one truth about God over your morning. "You are faithful. You are with me. Your mercies are new today." What you declare in the morning sets the tone for your whole day.

  • What does your current morning routine look like and is there space for God in it?

  • What baggage from yesterday do you need to leave at the door of this new morning?

  • What is one thing you can thank God for before your feet hit the floor tomorrow?

Today's Prayer

Lord let this morning bring me word of Your unfailing love. Before the noise starts. Before the responsibilities pile on. Before I pick up everything I was carrying yesterday. Speak to me first. Lead me in the way I should go and remind me that Your mercies are waiting for me fresh and new every single day. I choose to start today in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today's Declaration

His mercies are new this morning. I am not defined by yesterday. I step into today covered in fresh grace and led by a faithful God.
